I am currently the Campus Instructional Technologist (CIT) and the Web Master at Health Careers High School. I have 25 years of teaching experience in the Northside ISD and the Northeast ISD. I have taught math, drama, rocketry, computer programming and computer literacy.
I developed the NISD Web Mastering Online course which was the first online high school course accredited by TEA. I am the lead teacher and the Web Master of this course. I have developed and/or taught virtual high school classes for NISD, Aventa Learning, Pinnacle and PBS using Blackboard, eCollege and Moodle.
I have a part-time side business developing and maintaining web sites. Among them is Oakmont Downs Neighborhood Association (which took first place in the SA Home Owners Association contest), San Antonio Banana Distributing company, Alamo City Fast Pitch and Cayenne Kevin. I also designed the web sites for Texas A&M Galveston's Talented and Gifted program, Texas A&M Galveston's Elderhostel program, the El-Morro RV Park in New Mexico and the now defunct Texas Elderhostel program.
I enjoy doing consulting work for different school districts. I design and present Macromedia five-day workshops. I have presented my workshops for the San Antonio ISD, Northside ISD, La Porte ISD, TCEA and TAET. I have worked with Prentice Hall publishing to develop on-line technology integrated math courses and with ESC4 to evaluate on-line curriculum.
I attended Texas A&M University until my late husband graduated. I finished my last two semesters at University of Texas at San Antonio. I have a Bachelors in education from UTSA, a M. Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and a certificate in Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University.
I was an active member of the Texas Association for Educational Technology (TAET). I served since 1996 as a Board Member, Vice-President and President. I am an active member of both TCEA and TxDLA.
I am also the President of CampSIG a Special Interest Group within TCEA. The CampSIG group was formed to create a group that would support and communicate with the persons on the campuses responsible for the technology. Campuses have unique problems that need immediate attention and the people in CampSIG sought to provide that help for the campus based technology people. In addition, training has been provided by the CampSig group for the members. This group has been the largest and most active of the Special Interest Groups and has plans to continue serving the needs of its members in the future by staying in touch with their changing needs.
I have two children. My older son, Paul is working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Texas A&M University in College Station. He is also working as an Instructional Assistant at Texas A&M. He and his wife, Dorre just gave me my first grandchild, Elizabeth Lee on April 4, 2008. My younger son, Patrick is a senior at Texas A&M University in College Station and was recently hired as a Senior Systems Analyst for Network Security at TAMU. He is also majoring in Computer Science. You think their mom had any influence over them?
I was married on July 16, 2005 to Kevin Dooley. Kevin and I met on the Internet. Our wedding was even on the Internet! I guess you would say my life really revolves around technology.
Because my husband is a Cajun caterer, I have also added catering to my résumé this year.
Between my job, our businesses and our family I keep pretty busy. When I am not working, I enjoying reading, walking, jogging, working out, kayaking, traveling and playing computer games.
