Move over AHA Peels, Chemical Peels and other peeling procedures. A new contender has entered the American Marketplace. The process known as "Microdermabrasion" has already been successfully used in many parts of the world, principally in Central and Northern Europe. This new, exquisite healing modality is used to treat skin surface imperfections.

Dermabrasion itself has been around a long time as a medical, mechanical alternative to deep, chemical peeling for the resurfacing of acne scars, aged lip lines and other fine wrinkles and signs of cutaneous aging.

  • A totally controlled form of microdermabrasion.
  • It is painless.
  • Little or no healing time.
  • Basically risk free.

Microdermabrasion is a system that allow a flux of inert, natural, mineral crystals (Corundum Powder) to be shot out onto the surface of the skin where it abrades dry, dead or redundant cell tissue with little trauma but high precision which had been heretofore unattainable with other techniques.

The dead skin cells, along with the crystals are immediately "sucked" or vacuumed back into the sterile glass hand piece which in turn, flows back through soft, plastic tubes to the aspirator which provides both the force of velocity of the crystals against the skin and the reverse removal of the skin cells by suction. All of this activity is performed in seconds allowing the therapist to move in precise patterns. The operator has total control over the velocity force of the crystals and also the suction force via a special foot operated compressor which can increase the abrasion to a progressively deeper level (near the peripheral capillaries) or decrease the abrasion to affect only the stratum corneum, leaving light trails of pinkish stria which vanish in a few minutes!

MICRODERMABRASION POST-TREATMENT CARE

This machine has been especially beneficial in the reduction or removal of stretch marks including the breast; hyper pigmentation (brown discoloration), fine lines on facial skin and around the mouth and broken capillaries (face). The face peeling with microdermabrasion results Ir obviously clearer, very smooth-textured skin immediately after treatment. The gentle nature of the abrasion allows any part of the face or body to be treated. Small raised scars or shallow scarring from acne or chicken pox can be gently smoothed and leveled without the chronic discoloration common to conventional dermabrasion techniques. Any skin type or skin color can be treated. As the operator is in complete control of the depth and intensity, ethnic skins can be treated as successfully as less delicate types.

The developer of Microdermabrasion is Mattioli Engineering Company, who's had a strong reputation in the manufacturing of fine medical lasers and other surgical equipment for many years. Several years ago their controlled microdermabrasion machine came on the European marketplace with much fanfare and huge success. Mattioli holds patents on the innovative machine features. They recently applied to the FDA and, after satisfactory testing, had full approval for sales and training in America. The microdermabrador by Mattioli is the only unit of its type to bear FDA approval.

Skin Care Specialists using the Microdermabrasion equipment have been certified and trained by Mattioli Engineering and Lam International School of Advanced Esthetics in procedure and technique.
